Not Navy or Camel — Amal Clooney Just Wore the Surprising Fall Color Everyone Will Copy

Not Navy or Camel — Amal Clooney Just Wore the Surprising Fall Color Everyone Will Copy

Posted on October 20, 2026

Every fall, the same familiar colors make their way back into our rotation. Navy, camel, rich browns and burgundy are autumnal favorites, but this year, Amal Clooney has us considering something a little spicier. She recently stepped out in a burnt orange outfit that made dressing like a pumpkin spice latte look surprisingly chic.

Amal Clooney recently met with Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas in this gorgeous burnt orange look.

For a meeting with the Greek president in Athens, the human rights lawyer wore a skirt suit with a tailored jacket and tie-neck blouse. The polished silhouette was classic Amal, but the unexpected shade of orange made it feel fresh. Often relegated to Halloween decor, orange deserves more credit — especially in this deep, earthy shade. It brings warmth to a fall wardrobe and works effortlessly with neutrals we already wear on repeat.

And while we’re hardly retiring our favorite browns and beiges, this look has us ready to branch out. A burnt orange sweater or bag offers an easy way in, while a dress takes a cue from Amal’s full-on approach. Whether you’re looking for a small dose of color or ready to commit to the whole look, here are the pieces I’m eyeing, starting at $22.

Simple and sophisticated, the relaxed fit of this turtleneck is just what we need to stay comfortable as we transition to cooler weather. The chunky knit and rolled neckline give it a cozy feel, while the burnt orange shade adds some zest to a simple jeans-and-boots outfit.

Between the plaid pattern and rich orange shade, this midi skirt checks two fall trend boxes at once. It’s also an easy way to bring some color into your rotation without rethinking your whole wardrobe. Pair it with a fitted black turtleneck and tall boots for a polished look, or add a slouchy cream sweater and loafers for a more relaxed feel.

Wide-leg trousers are basically a cheat code for making any outfit look more expensive. Wear them to the office, pair them with a simple tee or swap them in when your everyday jeans need a day off — they instantly deliver that effortlessly chic, “I have my life together” look. This pair has a drawstring waistband to keep things comfy, while the punchy orange shade makes the whole look feel a little more interesting.

This shirt dress is so stylish it makes getting dressed feel like an occasion — even if the occasion is a Tuesday at work. Add boots for the office, strappy heels for dinner or a few gold accessories whenever you feel like doing the most with minimal effort. And that rich orange hue makes the whole look feel special.

If you’re ready to dip a toe into the trend, start with an accessory like this gorgeous bag. It adds a warm pop of color to your everyday outfits, while the smooth leather keeps the look polished. Even better? You’ve got styling options: Sling it over your shoulder, or attach the longer strap and wear it as a crossbody when you’re on the move.
